Empco and the Environment

March 2008

Empco Inc. will begin to phase out the use of all plastic bottles used for packaging phytoplankton cultures. By May of 2008, Empco will have completed the transition to using glass-only receptacles.

Plastics never biodegrade, but instead breakdown into minute plastic particles, forming a type of petroleum-based dust. The amount of plastic on Earth today will never decrease, and much of it is deposited into the oceans, where it can violently disrupt ecosystems.

Empco is proud to announce a discontinuation of plastic bottling products.
